Happy birthday big guy. I'm 49 and my 40th seems like ten minutes ago. Get ready for life to start accelerating like a fucked clock.

Have fun, do shit and enjoy yourself. Nobody ever lay on their death bed and said 'my big regret is that I didn't work a bit more'.

Take life and wring the cunt's neck. It's only a matter of time before it does it to you so get your retaliation in first.

Re: 40 Today
When I turned 40 I remember thinking that I was the same age as My Dad when I was born and by the time I was already old enough to have memories of him he already had heart issues, my Mum had cancer and they both seemed quite old already.

Just got me thinking that the next 10 years are really important in looking after ourselves and preparing ourselves for the next stage in our lives, because physically it doesnt get any better.

As Sxboy said, I think its the first time you really question your own mortality...

Happy Birthday Dave.

What 13BR said is spot on. 40 is just another year. Mid 40's bits start to break and fall off, I started to feel mortal for the first time. As long as you get through that, I'll be 50 next birthday, then it gets better again.

Happy birthday Dave. Just remember that you're as old as the woman you feel and getting older is better than the alternative...
